Advice requested: A pistol for the infirm

I'm looking to purchase a pistol for somebody who is physically infirm. The slide action on an automatic is daunting for this individual; arthritis sucks.

Anyone have any ideas for a low recoil, easy to operate, easy to reload pistol for the physically challenged?

Maybe a Ruger .22 MK. III? It does have a slide, but it's very easy to operate and doesn't require the grip strength of other semi slides. Low recoil, too.

how about one of those beretta's with the tip up barrel.
load the mag, insert into grip, pop the barrel and slide a round in. Just as easy to unload, and no slide racking. I hesatate to suggest a revolver due to the fact that if thier ailment is so bad, the the trigger pull on a revolver may be just as problematic.

Yeah, trigger pull is a problem. I'll look into the Ruger and Baretta. Hopefully I can rent these pistols at a local range.

What about an autoloader 12ga with extended magazine?

I have a taurus .40 mm millinieum pro (polymer frame)...the slide pull may still be a bit of trouble, but the weapon is remarkably light and feels very much like a toy pistol.

very inexpensive at around $400 bucks online

I have a buddy who has muscular dystrophy. He loves guns, but isn't able to shoot many. Revolvers work best for him. His pride and joy is a S&W .357 hammerless J-frame similar to the one below. Recoil isn't too bad for him. It doesn't really come very close to hitting him in the face when he fires a round. I've gone shooting with him a few times. He loves his gun.

I'd say the Smith airweight in .38 special w/shrouded hammer.

Plus 1 for the tip barrel. I was asking someone about this design and was told it was first made for women because the hand strength was not the same.

This may be a complete BS answer as to why, but it would relieve the need for hand strength to pull the slide.
